Retrofit installation of lifts

In some cases, stairwells may be too small or positioned in a way that prevents a lift from being installed in the centre of the building. In these situations, there are alternatives for placing the lift on the exterior of the building. At present, there are two types of government support available for retrofitting lifts into existing stairwells.

Government support for the retrofitting of lifts

Since the autumn of 2016, property owners or housing associations can apply for support to adapt common areas to better accommodate elderly residents who wish to continue living there. For example, you can receive up to SEK 200,000 in grants to install a lift in existing stairwells without one. Support can also be applied for other accessibility-improving measures, such as automatic door opening at the entrance.

Many take advantage of this opportunity each year, often in older buildings where there has previously been neither time nor funds to retrofit a lift. We have extensive experience in this work and ensure that residents can move more easily within the building.
